Page Layouts control how a record’s fields are arranged, so pages stay readable as you add custom fields. Dynamic rules let a layout respond to what the user enters.

What Page Layouts do
When a record page becomes disorganized or overloaded with fields, a Page Layout lets you rearrange and declutter it. Layouts apply to the Details tab, the Related tab, and the column arrangement within them.
Creating and editing
Administrators on any plan can edit default layouts. Professional and Enterprise plans can create additional layouts, which is what allows different profiles to see different arrangements of the same object. On accounts using Simple Permissions, the updated default layout applies to all users; with Advanced Permissions, you can create multiple layouts and assign them to user profiles.
Go to System Settings > Objects and Fields, select the object, then Page Layouts.
While editing a layout, you can drag fields from the Available Fields list onto the layout or the Highlights Bar, and hover over a field to move or remove it. Use the gear icon in the Details section to hide fields that have no value from appearing on the record, and use the gear icon to the far right of the tabs to choose which tab opens by default when a record is first opened. To make a field required for the layout, hover over it and click its gear icon. Insightly’s required fields, such as Contact Name, cannot be edited or deleted, though some fields like Email Domain can be set as mandatory. To create a new section, drag the New Section field onto the layout.
Administrators can also edit a layout directly from a record by clicking the security icon in the layout header, then clicking the Edit Layout link in the Page Render Details modal.
ℹ️ If you make changes to a default layout, you can restore it. Go to System Settings > Objects and Fields, select the object, go to Page Layouts, find the default layout, click the three-dot menu, and select Restore to Default Layout.
The Related tab
Layout customization isn’t limited to the Details tab. The Related tab’s arrangement can be configured the same way. The options that appear are determined by the Lookup Relationship fields that have already been created.
You can add a list by dragging it from the Available Lists column, rearrange lists by dragging them, and remove a list with the trash icon. Click a list’s gear icon to change its visible columns, edit its label (which must be non-blank), and set the Sort By field and Sort Type (ascending or descending). Check the Hide Related List if No Records to Display checkbox to hide a custom related grid list on records that have no linked records for it. Click Restore to Default to undo edits to a related list, then Save Changes and Save Layout when done.
Dynamic Layout Rules
Dynamic Layout Rules make a layout respond to what a user enters as a record is created or edited, showing or hiding fields based on the values they choose. They require the Enterprise plan with Advanced Permissions enabled, and apply on the create and edit pages in a browser, not on inline edits or the mobile app. A single layout can hold up to 15 rules, each with up to 8 conditions and 8 actions.
Open the layout’s Dynamic Layout Rules and add a rule.
A rule is built from conditions, which test what the user selects, and actions, which show the fields you want to appear.
Deleting a layout
Go to System Settings > Objects and Fields, click the object containing the layout, and select Page Layouts from the Object Management list. Click the three dots and select Delete This Layout, then choose a replacement layout from the dropdown. Records that used the old layout will be updated to the layout you select. Click Delete Page Layout to confirm.
